Under the Weather

I think I maybe the only person to have cold in the summer. I just don't get it, I use my hand sanitizer  and boom I still can't keep away a cold. Today was the worst ,with the headache, sore  throat, and coughing during meetings I was so embarrassed. So I have turn to my with out fail  products that help me get over a cold .

1. The Neti Pot ; now I know this is strange but after my older sister started using it she swears by it , so I bought one and it does wonders!

2. Vicks Vapor Rub: my god this stuff is amazing it really helps you breath

3. Delsym cough syrup: this stuff really does last for 12 hour and for me that's a god set during my meeting. I just take it before I leave for work and then i am all set

4. Tea: nothing helps your throat better than hot tea with lemon and honey : now don't get me wrong right now i would much rather be drink so ice cold sweet tea but , the hot tea really does the trick

5. When I am sick I got to bed at 10 just so I can squeeze in some extra REM sleep which is the time when your body heals itself and fight off infections.

So there you go , if you find yourself plagued with a summer cold these are some great things for you to do to help get over your cold faster and be able to enjoy summer.

But lucky for you if you have a petite figure I have heard that you can fit in to some of the items that J.crew has. Here's a samples of some wonderful items they have .

I mean how cute are they! I have found myself shopping more for my sister then for myself lately.

A Love Hate Relationship

Ballet flats and I have a love hate relationship, the hates is when they are brand new, and the love is when they have been broken in. I have been interning in the city part of Norfolk, my dad and I carpool in since he works there also. Well in the city  I have to walk to the museum which is like a 15 min walk. I used this opportunity as a reason to buy some new shoes. Today I deiced to have my new flats make their debut but I was not prepared for the wrath of new ballet flats. By the end of the day I was in so much pain because of the blisters on the back of my feet I could barley walk. Therefore  tonight I did some researching  on different ways you can break in ballet flat and this is what I found.

1. Wear them around the house for at least 2 days, with a pair of thick white cotton athletic socks, using either sandpaper or a sidewalk to slightly scuff the bottom.

2. Purchase a pair of Dr. Scholl’s for Her Heel Liners How To Break in New Shoes, available at your local drugstore, and place them on the inside heel of the shoe. The liners help not only to break in the shoe, but also to keep your heels from slipping and rubbing.

This one may be a little out there but ....

3. You’re a real spud: This one is a tip from an editor friend of mine! Peel a larger potato and push it into the shoe  (make sure it’s big enough to create a bulge). Leave the potato in over night and voila, your shoe should be stretched in the morning!

4. You can buy shoe stretches theses babies apparent work really well.

I hope this helps y'all with your shoe problems, thanks guys.

T-shirt Quilt

While most have been made from sorority T-shirts, since I am not in a sorority I am going to be using the T-shirts that I have gotten from events at college while this is going to be a long process with lot of t- shirt i believe that after  4y ear of college I will have allot of cute t-shirts to create the t- shirt quilt.
here are some samples of the great idea.

Vicious Cycle

All right I really going to open up to my readers in this post I hope that you still give the up most respect that you had for me before reading this post. I appreciate it very much. Since the beginning of high school my weight has always changed freshman year I was under weight and then after a lazy summer and an emotional sophomore year I became over weight. Thorough the ups and downs of my weight myself esteem has really taken a hit. This year has been especially hard because I was living in an all girl freshman dorm and surrounded by skinny girls that could eat what ever they wanted and not have guilt for that surrounded me. Well that is far beyond how I felt. Through out these past years I have tried everything from going vegan, I was vegan for 3 years, to starving myself for days. Well let’s just say my weight has always bounced back and I have never been satisfied with the results. But this summer has been a complete break though for me, my goal for this summer was to become more confident and I defiantly feel like have completed that. I have been working on accepting my curvy figure and well this summer I am finally able to embrace. I feel like I can finally wear by bathing suit to the beach and be confident. My point to this post is that well I know that being in college and high school can be like emotional warfare you eventually just have to say "forget it" and begin to accept yourself for who you are and what you are like. After you have done this you will become more comfortable and confident in yourself. Now I am going to get my soapbox and wish y'all a great night, thanks everyone for listening to my rant.

Cupcake Obsessed

I am going to admit that I may have a small cupcake obsession, this all started when I started to watch DC Cupcakes. It's a show basically about two sisters who have a cupcake bakery in Washington DC. I love the show. Anyways I now am obsessed with cupcakes even so much as to have an entire board on Pinterest devoted to them. This summer I have deiced to start trying out some recipes of cupcakes that I have found on pintrest. Maybe you guys can help me choose which on to start off with

Peach cupcakes: I love anything peach flavored and these are just too cute!

Key Lime Cupcakes with Blackberry Frosting: these are perfect for summer.

Ice Cream Cupcakes: I remember my mother making these for my birthday when I was little, I still love them.

Barbecue Cupcakes: I could not resist pinning these they are just too darn cute and they would be perfect for a summer barbecue

Raspberry Lemon Cupcakes: I love anything raspberry flavored and with lemon it's a perfect combo.

Feel free to comment with any other cupcake recipes you think I should try. I have a feeling that there will be allot of desserts in my families' future.

Happy mother day to all mothers today, goodness knows we would not be who we are are without you.

March 12th

Coming home has left me with allot of down time and since my parents have been traveling allot that has left me to baby-sitting allot. I really do enjoy babysitting my little sister I try and do some fun activities with her. I have been babysitting for a while now and I for the most part have gotten a handle on exactly what she likes to do.

1.  She  loves taking photos so we both get dress up and takes picture she absolutely loves it.

2. Since I have recently been one a fitness urge she goes running with me, while I have take some breaks, but at times she is running faster than me.

3. We go on allot of bike rides, I don't know about you but when I was little I loved riding my bike and showing off my sparkly pink bike, my little sister is the same. I love this because this helps me sneak in some exercise and it wears her out .

4. Another favorite activity is baking cupcakes, I love baking them and she loves helping mix and decorating the cupcakes too.

5.  My sister and I also enjoy watching one show that we both agree on, let me say this my inner child coming out but I love watching Scoody Doo. She loves it too so we have marathons of Scooby Doo.

I hope this gives you guys some fun things to do next time you are babysitting.

I am really excited form this summer because of my internship . Over the summer I am going to be interning at an art museum. I beyond excited because I get to spend my day surrounded by art , what more could I ask for?  This has  me to thinking naturally about what I am going to wear. As I scanned my closet   I have  found a lot of clothes that I feel could be great for working such an environment, so here are some of my staples that I am going to use during my internship

Red Belt: this is perfect for because I have an hour glass shape and I like showing off my waist and it's a universal color.

Black Heels: I love black heels with dress pants, but they have to be comfortable.

Ballet Flats: these babies are great for if you are going to be on your feet allot and they come in virtually any color. My favorite colors for these guys are brown, black, red, and sliver.

Navy Blazer: this is a universal staple for any wardrobe and it looks great with khakis.

Oxfords: they are so durable and they come in all sort of colors.

Pencil Skirt: I love pencil skirt they are just so classic.

Blouses: I love any type of blouse especially since it's the summer I need something that not going to be to heavy so light weight blouses are ideal.

Black and Khaki Dress Pants: these go with anything and you can match any top with these two colors.

Solid Colored Dress : this is perfect for the work place and with a bright color you can really show your personality with out being too inappropriate for the work place.

Statement Jewelry: I am going to have jewelry be my go to accessory  for work, if you have great statement pieces then you can really pull together an outfit.

I find that some great stores to find the basics would be J.Crew (Of-course), BrooksBrothers, Gap, Banana Republic, Anne Taylor , Express, and H&M.

I hope this helps y'all with any job fashion crisis.
